The Renaissance Pediatric Unit

A caring place for children with special healthcare needs

Do you have a medically-challenged child who needs specialized care? The Renaissance Pediatric Unit at our Iliff Nursing Home center can help.

The Renaissance Unit at our Iliff center was created especially for children with complex medical needs. The program serves children from infancy to adolescence, and is both child-focused and family-oriented.

At our Iliff center, your child will receive excellent care, with plenty of opportunities for socialization, education and play. We also offer a full continuum of physical therapy services, speech and language therapy services, and respiratory therapy services, including ventilator care and weaning.

The program serves two types of patients:

SHORT-TERM PATIENTS: These are children who no longer require the intensive treatment of a hospital, but who are not yet ready to go home.

LONG-TERM PATIENTS: These children are more medically-challenged and require a more extended period of care

EVALUATION, TREATMENT AND DISCHARGE PLANNING

• The pediatric program at Iliff is overseen by a pediatrician who manages and coordinates each child’s specialized plan of care. Our pediatrician works in conjunction with an experienced team of pediatric specialists.

• When a child is admitted to The Renaissance Pediatric Unit, our team evaluates that child’s condition and develops an individualized plan of treatment which addresses all of the child’s needs. This program may include regular sessions of physical, occupational, speech and/or respiratory therapy as well as educational and play activities.

• We closely monitor each child’s progress. Our team of pediatric specialists meet weekly to assess each child’s health condition, therapy regime, goals, progress and discharge plans.

• We actively seek input of concerned individuals during all phases of treatment. We encourage family involvement and invite participation of outside health insurance and education professionals. Our team works closely with the family of each child to effect a smooth discharge into the home and community.
